Lumira provides general information about planning a pregnancy, pregnancy, birth, recovery after birth, and caring for babies and young children. This information is for education only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified doctor, midwife, nurse or other health worker who knows your situation.

Lumira cannot diagnose or treat you or your child. Nothing on this website, in our videos or podcasts, or in our WhatsApp messages should be used to diagnose a condition, choose a treatment, or decide not to seek care.

Always talk to a health worker

  • Talk to a qualified health worker about your own health and your child’s health.
  • Do not stop, start or change any medicine or treatment because of something you read on Lumira.
  • If you are worried, it is always right to get checked — even if what you have read suggests it is probably nothing.

How we prepare our content

We write in plain language and base our guides on recognised public health guidance. Where a guide has been checked by a clinician, we show their name as “Reviewed by”. Health guidance changes over time and every person is different, so our content may not reflect the latest research or apply to your circumstances. Each guide shows the date it was published or last updated.

The clinic directory

Our directory shows facilities our team has checked and the date we checked them. Details can change, and a listing is not an endorsement of any particular health worker or treatment. Lumira is not responsible for the care provided by any facility. Facilities do not pay to be listed.

No professional relationship

Using Lumira, joining our WhatsApp messages, or contacting us does not create a doctor–patient or any other professional relationship. We cannot answer personal medical questions by message.
